It is not out of the ordinary for a pregnant woman or new mother to feel often a mixture of overwhelm, panic, anxiety, failure, guilt and sadness. Any of these symptoms, and many more, could indicate a degree of perinatal mood or anxiety disorder, such as but not limited to postpartum depression. While many women experience some mild mood changes during or after the birth of a child, 15 to 20% of women experience more significant symptoms of depression or anxiety.  There is no reason to suffer, it is not your fault and that there are effective and well-researched treatment options to help.
