Food is one of life’s greatest pleasures and yet eating is often a perpetual source of struggle, frustration and shame. Mindful eating is only one component of a wider Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program developed originally by Jon Kabbat Zinn. Today, the Mindful Eating technique has been proven instrumental in weight loss, and more importantly a means to more enjoyment and less difficulty surrounding food, body image and eating. Mindful eating is not a diet, in fact it’s very premise is anti-diet.  It is a way to more fully appreciate food by eating in a completely different way.

My certification in Mindfulness-Based Eating by founder Jean Kristeller has informed my approach to eating and body image issues. This philosophy and science facilitates a deeper understanding, observation and awareness of our relationship with food. In part becoming more aware of how our thoughts, emotions and history have impacted us, but also it is a more focused, present way to eat. I work with clients to get in touch with their own process of eating, which includes a focus (even a meditation) on satiety signals, appreciation and enjoyment of food.
